In 2012, Nichicon Corporation (headquarters: Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto; Chairman & CEO: Ippei Takeda) began selling the EVPower Station (EVPS), the worldís first*1 Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) system capable of using an EV storage battery to provide electric power to the home. In July 2014, Nichicon began selling an EVPS compatible with the MiEV series of EVs produced by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & COO: Tetsuro Aikawa). Nichiconís EVPS will now also work with the Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) from Mitsubishi Motors, providing power when the car engine is not turned on. So as with conventional EVs, this PHEV can be hooked up to the EVPS to provide electricity*2 to the home.
In August 2012, Nichicon released three models of the EVPS (the high-performance ZHTP1900R, the standard ZHTP1580R, and the outlet model ZHTP1700R) to market acclaim.
In July 2014, Nichicon expanded the range of EVs compatible with V2H with the release of an EVPS compatible with the MiEV series from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, responding to customer demand. Nichicon has now released an EVPS that works with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV the same way it does with conventional EVs, providing electric power to the home when the car engine is not turned on. This means the energy stored inside the carís lithium-ion battery can provide emergency backup power*2 to the home.
